Yesterday, Apple announced that we will finally be seeing the true developer SDK in early 2008. What does this mean for us iPhone users? Third party apps! No longer will we need to hack our devices to enjoy apps other than those that Apple has provided us with. I’m sure I speak for a lot of us when I say that this can’t come soon enough.

The official countdown to Apple’s latest OSX has now began. Apple has updated its homepage to display a countdown until the release day of Leopard, Friday, October 26th at 6 p.m.

“Leopard, the sixth major release of Mac OS X, is the best upgrade we’ve ever released,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “And everyone gets the ‘Ultimate’ version, packed with all the new innovative features, for just $129.”

You can now pre-order Leopard at Apples online store.

Microsoft have recently released an update for Word 2004.

“This update fixes a vulnerability in Word 2004 that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.”

Either load up Microsoft Office Auto Update or you can download it here in a range of languages.

Today, Apple has released a directory for the many web applications that have been developed for the iPhone. Also included with the directory are a guide to develop your own web apps, and a guide on how to submit your apps for inclusion in the directory.

All-in-all, I’d say this is a very welcome development for the iPhone and iPod touch.
